From Our President
Thank you for your interest in Fanatic Marketing. I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and I realize that three things must exist before you'll consider doing business with us... you must Know, Like & Trust us. With this in mind, I'll share some of my background in hopes it will help you get to know us a little better.
I started working in a dealership in 1997 behind the Parts counter. Coincidentally, I had begun reading a book by Brian Tracy titled The Psychology of Selling. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was beginning a journey towards the equivalent of a Doctorate in Sales. A short time later, I was moved to the Sales Department where I quickly exceled. Since then, I've held virtually every position in the dealership and worked my way up to General Manager.
In 2004, my business partner and I started a training company named Dealership University. We provided online training courses to dealers that covered Sales, Parts, F&I, Service, & Marketing. Of course, we were a bit ahead of our time, with many dealers still using dial-up internet and some having computers that didn't even have a sound card (seriously).
After completing our marketing courses, dealers began asking if we could fulfill their marketing, and we jumped at the opportunity. In 2008, we changed the name of our company to Powersports Marketing and modified our operation to provide advertising services to powersports, marine, and RV dealers. We hired a dev team and created SaaS products to make our marketing more effective, and after double-digit growth for 16 years, we sold PSM Marketing to a private equity group in 2021. Throughout that experience, I've come to appreciate having a great culture even more, and know the difference it makes for both clients and team members.
My vision for Fanatic Marketing is simple; to make a positive difference in people's lives. In the book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey's fourth habit is 'Think Win-Win'. This means to seek mutual benefit in all human interaction. What a powerful concept. I think we can all agree the world would be a better place if everyone focused on benefitting others in their interactions.
I appreciate that our impact starts with benefiting your customers. We shorten their buying cycle and cause them to happily own a better vehicle sooner than they would have otherwise. Every lead we generate creates more success for your Sales team. Every vehicle we help you sell generates a renewed customer for your Parts and Service departments, and ultimately everybody in the dealership wins. Your success fuels the passion of the team here at Fanatic Marketing, creating a trifecta Win-Win-Win.
For those interested, here's a little more about me. I'm a disciple of Jesus. My wife and I have four kids with an age-gap of seventeen years. My sons are both 6'6" tall. I'm a musician and I serve on a worship team. I also serve our student ministry.
I've read over 300 books on sales, marketing, leadership, motivation and faith. I believe in the principle of "Quality content in equals quality content out." In other words, you need to feed yourself quality, positive content in order to live out a quality, positive life.
In addition to being a powersports enthusiast, I'm the quintessential "car guy" that loves drag racing. I've owned all sorts of cars through the years, but my favorite cars have been the Datsun Z (240Z, 260Z, 280Z) and I've restored / modified / raced several of them. (pictures below)
